Gibraltar

Gibraltar is a sovereign British Overseas Territory and headland on the south coast of the Iberian peninsula dominated by the Rock of Gibraltar. It sits on the strait the separates Europe from Africa, and the Mediterranean Sea from the Atlantic Ocean. The name is based on the Arabic Jabal Tariq, or "Tariq's mountain," named for Tariq bin Ziyad, who captured the peninsula in 711.
