Cologne is Germany's fourth-largest city, home to more than 10 million people. Cologne was one of the most heavily bombed cities in Germany during World War II. The cathedral suffered as it sits next to the main rail yard - it has been fully repaired.
Cologne Cathedral (Kölner Dom) is a Roman Catholic cathedral and the seat of the Archdiocese of Cologne. It is a renowned monument of German Catholicism and Gothic architecture and is a World Heritage Site. It is Germany's most visited landmark, attracting an average of 20,000 people a day.
